fatigue versus the filter
Categories: LEAD
We had a great day of ministry yesterday...service, lunch with a few leaders, followed by volunteer leader meeting.
It was a great day, a long one made longer by me being a little sick. Fatigue battled my mouth filter and the filter lost, here's what slipped through:
"In a few minutes, introduce your self and tell us something interesting about yourself. Something unique to you."
This was followed by the usual: a few looks of horror. I said a few things to disarm the fears ("just something short, something personal...it doesn't have to be a long story...super clever... or super funny...just something YOU.").
Then I said something that I probably shouldn't have:
"If you can't think of something interesting about yourself, then you are probably too insecure to be in leadership."
I was hoping I just thought that...but when I heard the laughter, I knew I actually said it out loud.
This is probably a true statement...but it was too much over the top...
ever say something you shouldn't have?
